Bridging Learning and Research with Brainspan
Presenters:

During the past few years, games have become widely accepted as a useful tool for enhancing learning and engagement for students. However, the level of game-playing activity can also provide an excellent opportunity for faculty to develop and test the effectiveness of an extensive set of questions quickly through rapid proto-typing and iterations. The University of Alberta has developed Brainspan, an asynchronous, multi-player game that is being used initially in the Faculty of Medicine before being rolled out to the full Uof A campus. This presentation will explore how the game’s current functionality and bridges learning and research.
