Title: Blending Modes of Online Learning
Presenters:
Michael Power, Laval University
Norm Vaughan, Mount Royal College
This session will demonstrate how blended online learning environments are currently being implemented at two Canadian public universities, one in Quebec (Laval University) and one in Alberta (University of Calgary). Preliminary research results addressing the following questions will be discussed and debated throughout the session:
- What is a Blended Online Learning Environment (BOLE)?
- How is it different from Blended Learning?
- What impact does it have on the quality of online faculty teaching?
- What impact does it have on the quality of online student learning?
- What impact does it have on the front-end instructional design process?
- What impact does it have on time-to-delivery (preparing a course for online delivery)?
- Does a BOLE facilitate the implementation of a socioconstructivist approach to learning?
